Let’s kick-start the new year by paying respect to those who made the Community such a great place to be in 2009! Based on feedback from last year, we’ve added a couple new categories and retired some in their place. There are 8 titles up for grabs this year, so think long and hard about who you think deserves a Shout-Out!
What?
Nominate and vote for your fellow Community members in the 2nd Annual Shout-Out Awards. Starting today (January 15, 2010), we will be opening up the nominations for the following categories:
» Who was the Community's most outstanding technology expert and overall contributor in 2009?
Which associate demonstrated an outstanding level of expertise in 2009?
Which Tech Blogger kept you coming back for more in 2009?
» Community Ambassador of the Year
Which Community Ambassador demonstrated the most outstanding leadership and community spirit in 2009?
Which member who joined in 2009 made the biggest name for themselves?
Which post demonstrated the highest level of teched-out discussion?
Who shared their knowledge across a number of different boards with the highest level of expertise?
Which post best captured the excitement around a new technology or product in 2009?
Why?
So many great people and changes have come to the Community of the past year, let's give a shout out to some of the best members and moments of 2009!
When?
Nominations will open January 15 at 9:00 am PST and close January 28, 2010 at 4:00 pm PST. Voting on the finalists will begin February 5 at 12:01 am PST until February 18, 2010 at 11:59 pm PST.
How?
Right here! Start thinking about what members and what posts you would like to nominate and starting Friday you can come back and make your submission in the "Official nomination thread" for each category (which I will be creating Friday). Once the finalists have been decided upon, we'll start the voting February 5, 2010!
Prizes?
Obviously! The winner in each category will receive a $150 Future Shop gift card and a personalized signature banner. Plus, there's the glory of it all...! Voters will also be entered into a draw to win one of three $50 Future Shop gift cards.
Hey Laura, do we need to nominate a certain number in each category again this year? Or if a category has just one nomination, is that ok? There have been a couple that I've checked out already and I really don't have a better nomination!

Ok, all my nominations are in... and there are a couple of people that really need to get recognized in a couple of other categories. I really hope they get the recognition that's due to them (darned, why do we only get one nomination)!

The Shout-Out Awards just make me so happy! It's great to see everyone giving each other a high five online. As we round the half-way mark, I thought this would be a good time to recap on the nominations that have been made so far. I'm super excited to see lots of veterans and equally lots of fresh faces on the list! I know there are still tons of deserving nominees out there! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to nominate, and congrats to all the nominees
