With all the squeaky clean, rehearsed performances that show up at CES, this afternoon’s Sony announcement from Penn Jillette (the bigger half of Penn & Teller) was a refreshing splash of off-the cuff, off-color humor. Penn announced his own new show on Crackle, but not before swallowing a bean, popping it out the corner of his eye, and of course, a few risqué remarks about nuns in between.
The show, Penn Says, will be shot by Penn himself using Sony HD cameras, basically giving him to talk about whatever he wants on a given day, just as his ill-fated radio show was, which ended abruptly in March. Segments should be about five minutes long, and will go up about four times a week. Like all Crackle content, viewing them will be free.
A handful of Penn’s video are already up on Crackle. The best part: there’s a button for flagging content as inappropriate. Did Sony think this through at all? I wonder whether they will pull videos from their own content producers…
