In the spirit of trying to revive this music board and get some discussion going around, I thought I would just share a few of my favorite movie soundtracks.

I'm not a big fan of today's pop culture music, I prefer tunes that actualy have some rhythm and harmony in addition to beat.  The music I love the most is the kind that it purely orchestral, beautiful and exciting.  Not that I havent diversified my interests, I do enjoy a few bands from the 60s (Moody Blues, anyone?)  I've compiled a small list of soundtracks from some recent movies below:

1. Da Vinci Code

 

While not everyone agrees with the content or the quality of the movie, one thing is unanimous - it had one absolutely amazing soundtrack.  Composer Hanz Zimmer (who also scored the two recent batman movies) uses his talents to create a very alluring mood and some exciting pieces.  The 13th track, Chevalier de Sangreal, is the crowning glory of the soundtrack, and blends nicely into the movie's context.  You can browse this product here.

2. Batman Begins/Dark Knight

 

Hanz Zimmer pleases again in the wondrously dark and dreary world of Gotham City, where the 'Mafia' has utter control over everything.  I listed both films because they are both very alike in the soundtrack department.  It also lends nicely to the movie itself.  This is definitely one where you should see the movie first, and then enjoy the OST.

3. Casino Royale

 

I've been a fan of the composer of this OST, David Arnold, ever since he scored the original Stargate movie.  There are some very memorable pieces here that contrast nicely and have a wonderful flow together.  From Vesper's solemn piano theme to the dynamic overture at Miami Airport action scene, this soundtrack is very satisfying (to people who actually like soundtracks).  You can see it online at Futureshop here.

This was another great movie with a great soundtrack featuring my all-time favorite band who had the No.1 hit song.

Roy Orbision is okay but it was Roxette "It Must Have Been Love" I was talking about...yes Roy's song was very popular but then so was this one...a true masterpiece! I associate It Must Have Been Love with the movie...mainly because I'm their BIGGEST fan.

wowo you guys got some great soundtracks up here,

i am a big fan of hans zimmer for many reasons, but for the purpose of this thread i am his fan because of Pirates trilogy,

great tracks, make you feel you are in the movie, even when your just listening to the music,

everytime it i hear the soundtrack i get a smile on my face cause i can remember the scene from the pirates movie its from.

I love movie soundtracks - I haven't listened to any in far too long.

Seems like great picks to get me started again!
