Hey Folks,
I've been using Norton Internet Security 2010 and it's been great. I decided to try Future Shop's exclusive Kaspersky PURE. It seems like a great alternative to Norton 360 but I have one problem.
I use a VNC client on Mac and Windows so that I can control my computers from my iPhone and iPad. It's called iTeleport/Tight VNC which makes my iDevices turn into an awesome 3G/WiFi remote.
No problems on the Mac side or with Norton on Windows but Kaspersky blocks it. I find the Kaspersky settings confusing to figure out how to unblock the VNC stuff.
It's great that FS got this new product Exclusively in Canada but on the downside, I called Kaspersky's Canadian tech support and they told me they won't provide customer support for Kaspersky Pure.
I can foresee customer's being angry with Future Shop if they buy this software and then realize there is no tech support available to them from the manufacture.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I was actually a little shocked when I read this thread, so I decided to check it out myself to see what Kaspersky had to say on this matter.
Turns out that they only provide tech support to customers if you purchased their product at specific stores, and Futureshop is one of them.
So, with this news, please be sure to mention to the chat support specialist that you are using Pure, and that you purchased it at Futureshop. With that, they will assist you.

As far as exceptions to programs, here's how you add a program to the exceptions list. This should fix your problem Robby_J ![]()
Open Pure
Open My Protection.
Click on Settings.
Click on Threats and Exclusions on the left.
Click on the second Settings... button on the right.
Click on the Trusted applications tab.
Click on + Add, then click on the Browse... option.
Select the following program(s) one at a time:
(((Your full path to the EXEs here)))
Click Open.
Check all 4 check boxes:
Do not scan opened files.
Do not monitor application activity.
Do not monitor child application activity.
Do not scan network traffic.
Click OK. If more than one program above is listed, click + Add again and repeat to add it.
Click OK twice.

Of course, as a side note ... it is not recommended to use those settings for any program that is not secure or that you're not sure of, because it does allow alot of traffic. Internet Explorer, for example, is not recommended to be left completely open unless you've configured the security settings within explorer to manage it.
Those steps I listed to unblock everything was specific to Robby_J's specific situation.

Not too sure what to say there then, because I did contact their online chat support ... could be that they are the ones that support it rather than over the phone.

I used the phone support and not the online chat support. Good to know, I'll make sure to direct customers there if need be.
