Command Start Problem - CS-495ITW-FM

Greetings,

I have an 06 GMC Sierra (automatic) with a Command Start installed in February, 2008.  Model of Command Start is CS-495ITW-FM.  (No alarm system).

Here's the problem that has recently just started.
  • The remote has stopped beeping with signals sent/received.
  • Although the remote does cause the truck to lock/unlock, the display shows the lock icon as unlocked, whether or not it's locked or unlocked.
  • LED on antennae in truck is constantly on, with no flashing.
  • When I hit the start button, truck does not start.  All I get when I hit the start button is two flashes (parking lights).
  • Tried to see if it's in Valet Mode by following instructions in Manual - No change.  All I get is one flash - a pause - then two flashes.
I had a really bad experience with the initial install (at a place who's inititials are B .B.), had them re-do the install, and it worked fine for the next six weeks, then this.   Any ideas?  It's to the point that I wish I never had the thing installed in the first place.    Is there some setting that I can check or some mode I'm stuck in?

If it matters at all, the remote that this uses is the ASTR-6020 LCD, that can be seen here: http://www.autostart.ca/products_transmitters1.php

If this topic has already been covered or whatever, I apologize.  I searched around the best I could for a couple hours.  If you have anything to suggest, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks!
Trev.

If the LED on the antenna is on solid all the time - then...

If the LED on the antenna is on solid all the time - then you are in valet mode.
If you cycle the key cylinder on an off 5 times it should get you out of this mode.

Also - did you have them hook up the starter to lock and unlock your doors? if you didn't then the remote will not have a clue weather it's locked or unlocked.

But if the remote is slow to react, it could be an old battery (change it if you haven't already, factory batteries don't last too long), or it could be in power saver mode (won't communicate to the brain as often to save power).

Hello Trev, im an ex supervising installer for the Edmont...

[ Edited ]
Hello Trev, im an ex supervising installer for the Edmonton, Alberta west end (competitor) and i would like to extend you a helping hand.

- the fact that the LED is constantly on tells me that your unit is in "valet" mode and you need to turn that off by putting your key in the ignition and cycling it off and on five times. to do that propperly you must turn the key forwards until your dash lites up (not further) then back so it turns off. what you should notice is that the LED on the antenna will turn off when your dash lights turn on, that means the unit is installed ok, keep going back and fourth with the key (turning the LED off and on) 5 times after which you should hear some clicking and the LED will either turn off or flash. at this point try starting your vehicle with the remote. also while your there have the installer make sure that your "hood pin" is aligned propperly so as not to cause any more problems of this nature.

- the problem with your remote not beeping either stems from a bad batch of remotes, that command start is famous for, or your antenna needs to be replaced. first try reseting the remote by removing the battery and replacing it with a NEW battery.  in some rare cases i have noticed that reseting the system under the dash solves the issue.. to do that go to your installer and have them remove the main power fuses for a couple minutes and then put them back in.

these two points should fix all of your problems mentioned above, i hate to hear that you had so many problems with such a simple install,

valet mode

Hi there, I am having the same problem with my 04 Odyssey van.  I have a solid blue light and when I try to use my start button, my parking lights flash twice but it doesn't start.  My locks also still work.

I tried the on off cycle several times and I could not get it out of the valet mode, but the LED did go off an on.  Any suggestions??  I'm desparate!!!

Thank you

A.S

Help me get my command start out of valet mode....please!

I'm having the same problem with my command start.  It is in valet mode, and I can not get it out.  A guy from where I had it installed from (B.B. - never again) said to turn the vehicle on and off (just to 2nd click) then pressing lock button on command start.  (The guy is obviously dillusional since this did not work at all.)

It is -30 out there, and I really would like to be able to actually use my command start.  Can anyone please help me??  (# on back of command start is FCC ID: NAHRLCD4)

Thanks!

Solution Found!

Nice to know (competitor) has NO CLUE about the command starts they sell.  Here's the answer for anyone else who has the same problem:

Hold the UNLOCK and START/STOP buttons for 3 seconds,
The transmitter should beep once and the icon with V should disappear.

It works!!
